Child safety
EVERYONE working for Cassowary Coast Regional Council “is responsible for the care and protection of children and for reporting information about child abuse,” according to an updated child safety and wellbeing policy adopted at its September meeting.

“We have zero tolerance for child abuse,” the policy states.
“All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, disability, sexual orientation, family or social background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.”
The policy applies to all staff, including work placement students, interns, volunteers and contractors.
“Compliance with this policy applies to all staff at all times including outside of business hours e.g. personal time, holidays (domestic and international).”
