Nearly 70 members and guests gathered for the ‘Business Supporting Business’ event hosted by the Cassowary Coast Business Women’s Network (CCBWN) at Mission Beach Village to celebrate resilience and community spirit.

CCBWN encouraged attendees to support these businesses not just with words, but with actions, by shopping and dining locally.

Guests enjoyed welcome drinks, courtesy of Tropical Property and delicious food from Shanti Café, before enjoying some exclusive specials and discounts at participating stores, Mission Beach Worx, Zephyr Coast, Ibu & Bean, Helen Wiltshire Gallery, Leah’s Gifts for Every Occasion, Jules Fashions and Mission Beach Adventures.

Adding a playful twist to the evening, guests were invited to hunt for a hidden cassowary mascot in four of the stores.

Lynzey Lund discovered cassowaries at Ibu & Bean (pearl jewellery) and Gifts for Every Occasion (linen), Yolanda Jenkins found one at Jules Fashions (ceramic wall art), while Angie Banks spotted the mascot at Helen Wiltshire Gallery (striped beach bag).

The evening concluded with more food and refreshments at Laundro Lounge and the drawing of Mission Beach Village shopping vouchers, purchased by CCBWN and generously donated by local businesses. Winners walked away with even more shopping opportunities in the village.

CCBWN especially wished to thank all the individuals and businesses who donated vouchers or gifts.

This event highlighted the power of community and importance of shopping local, especially at a time when businesses need the most support.
