Your say on local planning
LOCAL residents, landholders, Traditional Owners, business owners, tourism operators, developers, conservationists and subject matter experts are invited to take part in an important initiative shaping the future of Mission Beach’s environment and development.

Expressions of interest are now open for a planning and mapping community workshop on Saturday 8 November 2025 at Ninney Rise, Bingil Bay.
The project will be delivered by Friends of Ninney Rise, James Cook University and Terrain NRM, with funding support from the Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The project aims to identify and map areas of local environmental significance to inform future planning decisions for the Mission Beach region.
Participants will have the chance to:
Share their knowledge of local habitats, wildlife and corridors
Review and provide input on a draft environmental significance map
Explore ideas for incentives and planning tools that could protect and restore important areas.
Places are limited, and interested participants are encouraged to register early.
