A roaring success

MOTORBIKES of nearly every calibre and description, from the classic through to the modern era, rumbled and growled their way into the grounds of the Currajah Hotel at Wangan on Saturday 6 September for the venue’s annual bike show.

Prizes were handed out to riders in a series of categories.

As fully-laden cane trains chugged past, a steady stream of bikes – including vintage Royal Enfields and BSAs to Triumphs, Ducatis, Hondas and, of course, Harley-Davidsons – rolled into the hotel’s rear grassy arena from lunchtime onwards.

With a fresh cool breeze blowing, the sun shining and live music being performed, the aroma of sausages and onions on the barbecue drew hungry bikers and other showgoers to the food tent throughout the afternoon.

The day was hailed a roaring success. The sausage sizzle as well as a meat tray raffle and gold coin donations raised much appreciated funds for the South Johnstone State School to the tune of $4129.

Currajah Hotel publicans Jock and Kylie shouted out a big “thank you” to their loyal patrons, sponsors and the local community in general for the large turnout.

“This event was nothing short of spectacular,” they posted.

“Your generosity and community spirit are what make days like this so special.

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, donated, cheered, and supported. You’ve helped make a real difference for the kids, and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
