All Stars shine on together at seaside
MISSION Beach’s creative community will take centre stage on Friday 11 September, when curator Bernard KC unveils ‘Mission Beach All Stars’, a vibrant collective exhibition celebrating the artists who make this corner of the Cassowary Coast so extraordinary.
“Mission Beach has always been famous for its natural wonders, now we’re celebrating another one, its artists,” he said.
“Not every star shines above us. Some paint, some sculpt, others create beauty from imagination. For one unforgettable evening, the stars of Mission Beach come together under one tropical sky.”
The exhibition transforms Bingil Bay Café into a glowing gallery space, with artworks, sculptures and music filling the room.
Suspended throughout the venue are handcrafted driftwood stars, each carrying the name of an exhibiting artist, a symbolic “room full of stars” celebrating the region’s creative talent.
Mission Beach’s reputation as a place “where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef” has long inspired conservationists, writers and artists.
Bernard KC said it was time to celebrate the people continuing that story today.
“This community has a creative spirit unlike anywhere else,” he said.
“My exhibitions are about colour, movement and connection, they’re not just viewed, they’re experienced.”
A fashion photographer who draws inspiration from nature and human connection, he has built a reputation for curating shows that feel alive. He is also committed to supporting emerging and unconventional artists, giving opportunities to creators who may never have imagined exhibiting their work.
Featured artists include Hamish Darveniza, Ebb Harber, Hilary Tredgett, Gary Lee, Jennifer Payne, Judy Brady, Pauline Roberts, Sally Moroney, Stuart Lloyd, Bernard KC, Kirby Growcott, James Mercer, Viv Cassady and many more. Opening night begins at 4pm and continue the next day, 12 September.
