Arts strengthen region
MISSION Arts held its annual Anniversary Awards Exhibition in August, which drew an appreciative crowd for a night of creativity, music and community spirit.

The event, officially opened by Stephanie Raiti, branch manager of major sponsor Community Bank Mission Beach, highlighted the strength of the region’s artistic community.
Guests enjoyed live music by Andrew G, raffles, lucky door prizes, bar service and a spread of sweet and savoury treats prepared by Mission Arts volunteers.

Since opening in 2011, Mission Arts has showcased the work of local and regional artists. This year’s exhibition featured 81 original pieces from 70 creators, a testament to the calibre of talent across the Cassowary Coast region.
A total of $3900 in prizes were awarded thanks to generous sponsorships and community contributions.

Esteemed judge Ann Vardanega presented the Cassowary Coast artist award and judge’s choice award, adding prestige to an exhibition which continues to inspire and celebrate the region’s creativity.
Donetta Mounfield’s vibrant oil painting Charlie’s Catch netted the $300 people’s choice award as voted by gallery visitors throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition was a huge success due to the generosity of major sponsor, Community Bank Mission Beach Bendigo Bank, together with the support of award sponsors, local businesses, artists and dedicated volunteers.
