Bashers get all revved up
THE 2026 Variety Club Queensland Bash has started in Innisfail.
The 93 cars were waved off from the Innisfail Showgrounds on Tuesday last week.
They will spend 10 days on the road travelling via Woodleigh Station, Cobbold Gorge, Greenvale, Hughenden, Barcaldine, Capella, Carnarvon Gorge, Biloela and finishing at Gladstone.
Cassowary Coast Mayor Teresa Millwood thanked the bashers for starting the event in Innisfail.
“Our generous community showed tremendous support and donations while the Variety Bash entrants supported local businesses in return,” she said on a Facebook post.
“This year’s bash has 93 cars, all of which must be 25 years or older.”
A Variety Club post, also on Facebook, said it was “an incredible way to kick off the 2026 Queensland Variety Bash”.
“From the Innisfail Showgrounds, through lush rainforests and country towns, off-road tracks and finally sitting under the stars for dinner.
“One of the best parts of today (Tuesday last week) was the welcome along the way. Local families standing on their lawns to wave us through, kids lining the school fences waiting for the bash cars to honk past and communities coming out to be part of the action.
“After months of fundraising and preparation, it’s pretty special to finally be out here seeing what the Queensland Variety Bash is all about: community, mateship, adventure and making a difference for Aussie kids.”
