This event was a fundraiser for Innisfail Friends of the Hospital Foundation with sales of recipe books featuring members favourite recipes with a tote bag along with donations which were well-received by foundation members, Estelle Kopp, Maria Vasicek and Johanne Stitt.

Funds raised from the high tea will enable the group to meet the ongoing costs of hall maintenance, rates and insurance.

The Silkwood branch, formed in 1930 has a rich history and is now in its 95th year.

QCWA branches engage in international projects, which include providing birthing kits to women in Papua New Guinea, as well as ‘Water for All’ and ‘Women Feed the World’.

Each year QCWA branches engage in a ‘Country of Study’ and in 2025, it is Ontario, Canada which includes a focus on various activities related to the country’s history, culture and crafts.

The macadamia is this year’s primary product of the year.

Throughout the year, members promoted macadamias through various activities and resources, including a tea towel and recipe booklet.

The branch holds craft mornings every Tuesday from 9am to noon at the Silkwood QCWA Hall and women of all ages are welcome to attend.

The cost is $5 which includes morning tea, and it provides an opportunity for women to connect in a relaxed, social environment.
