Beggars seek morning crowd
THE ‘Morning Melodies’ series of entertainment events are back on the Cassowary Coast.

The first was yesterday when Bloom sang Eva Cassisy’s songbook.
The series has become a highlight on the region’s events calendar, offering relaxed morning performances that bring people together to enjoy music, connection and community spirit.
The 2026 season, hosted by Cassowary Coast Regional Council, features a diverse lineup of talented performers.
Mayor Teresa Millwood said Morning Melodies “consistently delivers a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional performances”.
“We look forward to another fantastic year in 2026 and to seeing audiences return to enjoy these special mornings together,” she said.
Cr Trudy Tschui said the Morning Melodies “is a much-loved program that creates meaningful opportunities for people to come together and enjoy live entertainment locally”.
“Council is proud to continue supporting events that foster connection, inclusion and wellbeing across our communities,” she said.
Next up are The Beggars sing the Seekers on 14 April. The Beggars are Renee Donaghey, Stuart Day and Quinton Dunne.
Their distinct Australian sound has taken them to the top of the European country music charts and onto the stages of Europe and Australia’s festivals and theatres.
Quinton and Stuart spent many years on Australia’s long highways touring the country with music and theatre shows. They returned to Adelaide, met Renee and formed The Beggars.
Renee Donaghey, on vocals and guitar, was born on the family farm in Esperance, Western Australia. She has a crystal clear voice that rings out with the sound of folk and roots music.
Quinton Dunne (vocals, double bass) is from the green hills of Ireland via London to the wide brown land of Australia where he has played with great artists including The Seekers.
Stuart Day (vocals, guitars, fiddle, mandolin harmonica) was born in Queensland and grew up in rainy Mt Gambier in the south east of South Australia.
