Big sugar hits
TULLY Sugar, celebrating its centenary this year, has donated thousands of dollars to schools, sporting clubs and community groups.

The theme of their celeb rations has been: ‘Growing together for 100 years’.
Tully Sugar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Chinese agribusiness company COFCO, operates one of the largest sugar mills in Australia.
Since COFCO’s ownership began in 2011, the mill has donated $30,000 annually to the community.
COFCO’s CEO Andrew Yu said he was proud the company could continue its tradition of giving back, especially in such a milestone year.
“We are honoured to be part of this community and grateful for the support shown to us every step of the way,” he said.
“These donations reflect Tully Sugar’s enduring commitment to strengthening the district and supporting the groups that make the Cassowary Coast a vibrant place to live.”
Among the recipients were Tully and Cardwell nursing homes, Blue Nursing Service Tully, Tully Meals on Wheels and the Tully Show Society, each receiving $1000. The Tully Line Dance Club received $400, while all other clubs and organisations received $500.
