Bowlers just keep rolling on
LOCAL lawn bowlers are gearing up for one of the biggest representative periods of the year, with a strong contingent from Innisfail and South Johnstone named for both the Northern Challenge in Mackay on 18 April and the State District Sides Championships on the Gold Coast from 6-9 May.

The four-day state event draws around 600 players and officials annually, with many competitors staying on to contest the Queensland State Championships.
Thursday afternoon social bowls in Innisfail on 9 April produced a tight finish, with Sergio Dalla Pozza, Mal Clifford, Clem Kinbacher and Rob Croatto taking the win on 2+25.
Gordon Goes’ team finished close behind on 2+24.
New members and visitors are welcome each Thursday, with names in by 12.30pm for a 1pm start. The $15 fee includes two 12-end games, smoko and a jackpot.
In Far North Queensland eight-a-side action, Innisfail travelled to South Johnstone on 29 March for the opening round, competing in mixed pairs and fours in section three. South Johnstone claimed the win over Innisfail, while Silkwood defeated Tully 60-42.
After the Easter break in round two, Innisfail hosted Silkwood, while South Johnstone met Tully in Innisfail, before facing Silkwood on 11 April.
