Bowlers return to green after break
INNISFAIL ladies enjoyed two good games of bowls on their first day back after the Christmas and New Year break.
All ladies were glad to be back on the green, enjoying the companionship, as well as the bowls.
Despite the mid-summer temperatures, a pleasant breeze on the green later in the day kept conditions bearable.
Dell Steve, Margaret Wardrope and Kath O’Brien proved too strong for Marilyn Allen, Diana O’Brien and Carol McRobbie 15-10 while Daphne Kirkman, Joan Atkinson and Christine Pascoe defeated Helen Paterson, Margaret Johnston and Jan Dunn 15-11.
Members of Innisfail Bowls Club attended the funeral mass and wake for well-known and respected club member, Vince McAvoy on 29 January.
The mixed pairs competition for 2026 commenced on 30 January and players will take part in the first ladies’ tournament for the year at West Cairns Bowls Club on 11 February.
