Brighten up central facade

AN opportunity for local artists awaits following the completion of the McGowan Drive car park façade upgrade in Innisfail, delivered last year and funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland (W4Q) program.

The previous mural and paintwork had reached the end of their lifespan, so the facade was refreshed with a clean, neutral finish designed to complement surrounding businesses and the wider streetscape.

With the facade now refreshed, council is considering new public art to feature on the site in the future. Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grants are now open, with funding of up to $5,000 available to support local artists to bring creative ideas to life in the heart of Innisfail.

To complement the upgrade, the car park entry signage will also be renewed to meet current traffic standards, improving safety and ease of access for users.

Mayor Teresa Millwood said the completed upgrade reflects Council’s commitment to maintaining welcoming and vibrant town centres.

“Looking after our public spaces helps build community pride and creates places people enjoy spending time in,” she said.
