Broke n’ busy bring back passion to local music arena
CAIRNS-BASED four-piece Broke N’ Busy are quickly carving a name for themselves with a signature sound that fuses alt-rock melodies with gritty punk energy. Formed in mid-2024, the band has been turning heads with their raw, relatable lyrics and dynamic live shows that keep audiences buzzing long after the last chord fades.

The lineup features Alex on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Josh tearing it up on lead guitar, Michael holding down the basslines, and Ethan keeping the heartbeat alive on drums. Together, they create a tight, honest sound that’s heartfelt, powerful and impossible to ignore. Each member brings their own personality to the mix, resulting in performances that are as fun as they are memorable.
Currently grinding toward their debut album, Broke N’ Busy proves that even when life has you broke and busy, there’s always room to chase your passion and make some serious noise.
“Our plans to release an album this year slowed down because of work, personal lives and rehearsals. My house is a studio, and it’s been falling apart. But it’s almost back up and running, and we’re aiming for a single by the end of the year.
“As for lyrics, a few songs started at TAFE, and I can relate to them, but mostly it’s about capturing raw emotion,” said Alex over the phone.

In terms of their next show in Silkwood, “It’s gonna be loud and it’s gonna be good. We might even play some new original music no one’s heard yet,” said Alex.
