The collaboration between all businesses, clubs and organisations, the opportunity to be involved in the fun and festivities is encouraged as a great opportunity to promote themselves to both locals and visitors alike.

But the most important thing is the fun and laughter the chance to dress up, be young again and really celebrate what it means to be part of a close-knit community that has survived hardship and struggle to re-invent itself and come alive again.

The town decorates and celebrates with a jam-packed weekend of live music and entertainment.

Cafes dish up delicious food as well as food vans, competitions, dressing up and the grand finale on Saturday night is fantastic fireworks. It does not end there, however.

Sunday brings even more kids interactive games and activities. A Kidzone with face painting, a circus with purpose, Lara the clown, Punch and Judy, pirate Captain Jack Sparrow and the beautiful Ariel the mermaid.

It’s a great weekend to spend in Cardwell and enjoy all the festivities over the King’s Birthday long weekend, 3-5 October.
