Clown around at Seafest
EVERYTHING about the sea is celebrated at the annual Cardwell Seafest Carnivale starting this Friday through to Sunday.
The event brings music, markets, seafood and seaside fun together, with a program for every generation.
An organiser said the carnival celebrated gathering with family, catching up with friends and enjoying local entertainment.
“From live bands and fireworks to children’s activities, there are plenty of reasons to join the festivities,” she said.
“The car and bike ‘Show ‘n’ Shine’ on Saturday offers enthusiasts and visitors a chance to admire the vehicles on display. Combined with the program’s rockabilly flavour, it adds nostalgia to a weekend focused on good fun.
“Relax and enjoy an afternoon of good vibes as the sun goes down, with a live band (The Cassidy Connection) adding to the atmosphere. A licensed bar and food vans complement the entertainment, while kids’ activities add to the family fun.
“Sunday Funday and Market Day continues the celebrations with market stalls, live music and family activities.
“The kids’ jetty fishing competition gives younger participants their own opportunity to get involved and enjoy friendly competition.
“Meanwhile, pie eating, prawn peeling and the memorably named ‘Chuck a Mullet’ promise the playful entertainment that gives a local carnival its character. These activities encourage people to participate, share a laugh and create memories together.”
The organiser said a positive aspect was the event’s registration with Queensland Mental Health Awareness Week.
“It adds meaning to a celebration that encourages connection, conversation and a sense of belonging,” she said.
