Cockles claim golf victory
A BOGEY-free seven under round from father and son duo Jake and Caine Cockle proved the stand-out performance of the ANZAC Day two-ball Ambrose competition, with the pair navigating the wet course superbly despite leaving a few putts behind.

Persistent rain had already washed out the Wednesday All Sporters and Friday Sporters competitions and, although the grounds crew worked tirelessly throughout the week, the course remained heavy underfoot for the 18 hole ANZAC Day event on 25 April.
Even so, the shotgun start brought everyone together and set the tone for a spirited day of golf.
Paul Tattam and Ian Saunderson put together a solid round but could not quite keep the bogeys off the card.
Dale Sclippa and Mick Wilkinson were tracking well too and a couple more par putts would have really tightened the pressure on the Cockles.
The Cockles did not produce fireworks individually, but in Ambrose golf, avoiding mistakes is often just as valuable. Their clean card and steady teamwork ultimately set them apart on a challenging day.
