This growth follows a steady rise from 409 students at the beginning of 2025, with waiting lists now in place for several year levels.

The college has also confirmed a full complement of teaching staff for the year, including the recent appointment of an English teacher, ensuring stability and strong support across all learning areas.

College principal Mr Paul Melloy, who is now in his second year, is well supported by staff.

The college continues to offer a wide range of learning pathways, preparing students for university, training or direct entry into the workforce. Its focus on relevant, collaborative and future focused learning remains central to the college’s mission.

Two major initiatives are driving the college’s 2026 annual improvement plan. Explicit Instruction (EI) is being embedded as a consistent, school wide teaching approach, supported by coaching and professional learning that began in late 2025 and will continue into 2027.

A differentiated class structure in English and mathematics has also been introduced, providing targeted literacy and numeracy support alongside extension opportunities for high achieving students.

Specialist programs are thriving, with the Brisbane Tigers Rugby League Academy and the Liverpool FC International Academy now fully operational.

A total of 54 students across years 8-10 are currently enrolled in the academies, gaining access to high level development opportunities integrated within the school curriculum.

Beyond the classroom, students are actively involved in academy training, confraternity preparation and the after school homework club in the college library, supporting both academic progress and wellbeing.

The college continues to invest heavily in facilities and resources. Recent upgrades include the refurbishment of 10 classrooms in C block, extensive repainting and the installation of a new lift to improve accessibility. Additional rugby league, football and gym equipment has also been purchased to support student development.

Planned works for the year ahead include new covered walkways, sporting facility upgrades, additional seating, further classroom refurbishments and the replacement of the college’s PA system.

The student representative council remains active in social justice initiatives, supporting Harmony Day, the National Day of Action Against Violence, Cancer Council, Caritas Australia, St Vincent de Paul appeals, School Savvy and Share the Dignity.

Students and staff also continue to represent the college at major community events, including Feast of the Senses, Innisfail Riverfest and Art Deco festivals, Rotary Christmas Street Party and ANZAC Day.

The college describes itself as a contemporary Catholic learning community where every student is known and valued, with a strong commitment to providing a safe, supportive and high quality education.

Enrolments for year 7 in 2027 are now open, with strong interest already evident.

Families are encouraged to apply early, with round one interviews scheduled for Saturday, 16 May.

Applications can be completed online via the college’s website.
