The couple chose the historic church, not only for its breathtaking architecture, but for its capacity to fit 230 guests. Retired local pastor Mark Dewar officiated the ceremony. Lauren was born in Innisfail and raised on her family’s farm in El Arish. Her family (Conti and Watson) represents a century of agricultural heritage in the region. Her father Ian still lives on one of the original family blocks owned since the 1960s.

Ross, a third-generation grazier, grew up on Helenslee Station, west of Charters Towers. The Leggett family has owned the station for over 60 years, with roots stretching back to his grandparents, who also purchased their farm in the 1960s.

Natalie Beattie from Stella Florist Cairns, assisted by local decorator Jenny Rick, created ethereal arrangements using white Colombian roses, white bougainvillea from the Rick’s Mission Beach property and delicate Andromeda blossoms. The floral design paid homage to Lauren’s Italian heritage and the region’s tropical beauty.

Lauren’s gown, a classic drop-waist silhouette, featured a regal blusher veil edged in Italian lace.

Ross wore a black tuxedo with a cravat, cowboy boots, and a Brahman bull pin from his late grandfather – an ode to life on the station.

A boutique room at the Elandra displayed wedding dresses from Lauren’s mother, mother-in-law and great-grandmother, alongside photographs of past family weddings.

The wedding day was a black-tie affair with some traveling from as far as Ireland.

During cocktail hour, Lauren’s grandmother played cello and guitar, while NQ Productions, led by Lauren’s uncle Joel Kennedy, provided the sound and lighting.
