Innisfail controlled the match from the outset, heading into the break with a 16-0 lead before sealing the result with a composed second half effort.

The Knights opened their account early after the restart through Zane Knowles, narrowing the margin to 10 points, but Innisfail responded with two more tries to put the game out of reach. Ivanhoes’ only other points came late when Keli Law intercepted a pass and sprinted the length of the field.

Innisfail’s try scorers were Michael Carroll (2), Jaymon Moore, Brayden Cassady and Lachlan Biondi Odo, with Aaron Jolley converting three goals.

In reserve grade, the Leprechauns were ruthless, storming to a 54-6 victory after leading 24-0 at half time. Ivanhoes’ lone try came late in the second half through Pierce Whiting. Innisfail’s points came via Cameron Nelson, Starrison Whaleboat, Shaquille Johnson, Colby Alridge, Rhaymus Tomarra, LeBron Heron Jia, Malachi Donaldson (2) and Starat Tomarra, while Michael Morton delivered a flawless nine from nine with the boot.

The under-19s were unable to close the gap in their clash, going down by 14 points after trailing by eight at the break. Tries were scored by Jimi Kusu, Jafari Brown and Jimmy Scott, with Ashton Stepanoff adding two goals.

In the women’s match, Innisfail mounted a spirited second half comeback but could not overturn the Ivanhoe Maidens’ dominant 20-0 first half lead. The Leprechauns crossed three times after the half-time break through Storm Romelo, Ashley Marshall and Shiloh Babsek, keeping the Maidens scoreless, but ultimately fell short 20-12.

In round five, Innisfail’s senior teams travel to Davies Park to face Mareeba, while the Tully Tigers host Southern Suburbs at Tully Showgrounds on ANZAC Day, 25 April.
