Damaged road set for repairs
REPAIR works will soon begin at the Silky Oak Creek Road culvert crossing at Silky Oak following major flood damage in February.

A Cassowary Coast Regional Council spokeswoman said works would include replacing damaged culvert pipes, repairing the crossing, rebuilding the road to improve safety and making the area more resilient during future wet weather events.
“Works are planned to begin once material deliveries are received and weather conditions allow,” she said.
“We will continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses.
“Thank you for your patience while these important recovery works are carried out.”
The works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
The council has also started works on Shell Pocket Road at El Arish to complete pavement and sealing works.
Works started on Monday and are expected to be finished on Friday, weather permitting.
The council spokeswoman said the road would be closed during works at Whing Creek. Detours would be via either side through El Arish.
