Distillery plans sculpture displays in grounds
BINGIL Bay Distillery is inviting expressions of interest from local sculptors and outdoor artists who would like their work considered for display throughout the distillery grounds and gardens.
Selected pieces will form part of an evolving sculpture garden designed to showcase local creativity and give residents and visitors another way to experience the work of artists from across the region.
Artists will be able to sell their work directly to interested visitors, with all sales inquiries passed directly to the artist. Bingil Bay Distillery will not take a commission from any sale.
“We want the gardens to feel connected to the local area and the people who create here,” the Bingil Bay Distillery team said.
“This is an opportunity for artists to display their work in a new visitor setting while remaining fully in control of any sales inquiries.”
Artists are invited to submit a short biography, details of their proposed work, dimensions, approximate weight, indicative pricing and photographs or concept sketches through the online expression of interest form.
Shortlisted artists will be contacted with further information, including display and installation requirements and the full terms and conditions.
Located at 8 Butler Road, Bingil Bay, the distillery is offering visitors the opportunity to step inside a working production space, learn about its patented ‘Sub-ATMOSPHERIC®’ distillation process and taste a selection of spirits produced on site.
“This is also your chance to step inside the world’s first licensed Sub-ATMOSPHERIC® distillery and see the process behind the spirits we’ve been working on – lower-temperature distillation, cleaner flavour and a completely different approach to how energy is used in the stillhouse,” the team said.
“From now on, we’ll be open Thursday to Sunday, with guided tours and tasting experiences, tastings at the distillery and bottles available to purchase direct from the source.
“We’re started with a soft opening, keeping things deliberately small while we settle into welcoming people through the distillery.”
The distillery makes and sells a range of rums, gins and cane spirits, such as ‘Spiced rum’, ‘Summer gin’, ‘Sub-lime cello” and ‘L’Esprit de Vesou’.
