Dugong play area closed
THE dugong climber play slide at Dugong Park, Cardwell, has been closed due to safety concerns.
Cassowary Coast regional Council said the dugong climber was cordoned off following a recent safety inspection.
“During routine inspections of playground assets, council identified safety concerns with the dugong climber (play slide) that requires the equipment to be closed immediately to protect public safety,” a council statement said.
“The affected equipment has been barricaded and is not available for use.
“All other playground equipment remains open and safe for children and families to enjoy.
“Council understands this may be disappointing for park users and thanks the community for their understanding.
“The safety of children and families using council playgrounds is always our highest priority.
