A DRAMATIC finish in Saturday’s monthly medal on 5 September stole the spotlight at Innisfail Golf Club, with Nathan Smith and David Swaine locked in a gripping battle that ended with Swaine snatching victory on countback.
A DRAMATIC finish in Saturday’s monthly medal on 5 September stole the spotlight at Innisfail Golf Club, with Nathan Smith and David Swaine locked in a gripping battle that ended with Swaine snatching victory on countback.
Smith posted a brilliant personal best 83 off the stick, finishing five under, before Swaine stormed home with his best back nine of the year to tie the score and claim the overall win.
The strong Saturday showing capped off a busy fortnight on the course.

With live leaderboards running in the clubhouse and on MiScore, players watched closely as Nathan Smith made his move in the monthly medal 18-hole competition on 5 September. His composed approach into the 18th and steady two putt finish sealed his personal best and a superb round.
Adam Summers and Steven Marsh also produced solid performances, while Leanne King led the +2 group inside the top 10. Afternoon groups found the going tougher, except for David Swaine, whose late surge delivered a thrilling finish.
