“It was a wonderful evening filled with memories, stories, laughter and plenty of catching up,” the club said on Facebook.

“A special highlight was having John Horsford join us for this very special celebration,” the club said.

“John received his bronze medallion in 1956 and went on to become the first president of the Etty Bay Nippers Club when it was formed in 1970.

“It was fantastic to have John there to share in the celebration and recognise his long connection to Etty Bay surf life saving.

“Congratulations to Blaise Cini, who was awarded life membership of the club. A very well-deserved recognition of Blaise’s commitment, dedication and contribution to our club over many years.

Etty Bay members also attended the state awards of excellence in Brisbane.
