Firearms seized in raids

POLICE have charged two people following investigations into a break and enter at Silkwood last month.

It will be alleged, between 12am and 6am on 16 December, a 17-year-old boy entered a Silkwood residence, stealing five firearms from a locked gun safe.

Investigators from Tully and Innisfail CIB, with the assistance of Cairns Dog Squad and Tully officers, executed a search warrant on 18 December at a Maria Creeks address where three of the five stolen firearms were located, along with dangerous drugs.

Further investigations resulted in two more stolen firearms found at a remote property in El Arish.

A 33-year-old Maria Creeks’ man has been charged with three counts of possess dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine, testosterone and trenbolone) and one count of possess utensils. He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear before Innisfail Magistrates Court on 19 January.

A 17-year-old Maria Creeks' boy has been charged with two counts of possess dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis) and one count each of unlawful possession of Category A weapons and enter dwelling and commit. He is due to appear before Tully Childrens Court on 22 January.
