Mayor Theresa Millwood said she was pleased to see such a diverse range of local creatives applying for this round of grants.

“Our locals are all kinds of creative and this round’s successful applicants have some inspiring workshops, theatre and arts projects that are going to liven things up across the Cassowary Coast. We can’t wait to see the results,” she said.

The projects are:

  • Catbird Theatre Company – Catbird Theatre on Tour will bring interactive, high-quality theatre performances to young people in rural areas, making live performance accessible to more of our community

  • Tully Arts and Cultural Precinct – Traditional printmaking workshops will give local artists the chance to develop their skills and explore their creativity

  • Cardwell UFO Festival – Stories in the Stars – Traditional Owner astronomy and exhibition invites community members to create artworks inspired by Traditional Owner stories, spanning weaving, painting, sculpture and contemporary art

  • Deborah Zaini – Form and Fire in Far North Queensland is a hands-on clay workshop, welcoming community members to get creative and explore this timeless medium.

  • Aileen Ramage – Threads of Community is a collaborative textile project with a First Nations artist, creating fabrics inspired by the rainforest and reef.

Council’s RADF program is part of a long-standing partnership with Arts Queensland, providing up to $5000 in funding for local arts initiatives that foster participation, encourage innovation and celebrate the region’s rich culture.

“We are thrilled to support these projects and the talented artists behind them. RADF helps bring our community together, celebrates local stories, and keeps creativity thriving on the Cassowary Coast,” Cr Millwood said
