Fresh park upgrades
A NEW modern barbecue shelter is being built at Taifalos Park, Kurrimine Beach.
A Cassowary Coast Regional Council spokeswoman said the existing shelter, concrete slab, picnic setting and barbecue facilities had reached the end of their service life and would be removed and replaced with new infrastructure to improve the park’s functionality and appearance for the community.
“Following demolition, construction of the new slab, shelter and barbecue facilities will commence as soon as practical, subject to contractor availability and weather conditions,” she said.
The project includes:
Removal of the existing barbecue shelter, slab and facilities
Construction of a new concrete slab
Installation of a new modern shelter

Site reinstatement and finishing works
Construction schedule 23 June – 30 July 2026 (weather permitting)
Following demolition, construction of the new slab, shelter and BBQ facilities will commence as soon as practical, subject to contractor availability and weather conditions.
