Fresh voice for business
A NEW regional network has officially launched to provide local operators across the Cassowary Coast with a fresh approach to business advocacy, networking and support.

A NEW regional network has officially launched to provide local operators across the Cassowary Coast with a fresh approach to business advocacy, networking and support.
Named Business Cassowary Coast, the peak body has been established by experienced local business figures across small and large enterprise, local government and chambers of commerce “to foster regional growth and prosperity.”
Former long-time El Arish Tavern owner and former Cassowary Coast deputy mayor Wayne Kimberley, who is facilitating the initiative, said the network was formed to meet a growing need for a unified regional strategy.
“Business Cassowary Coast is being launched on the Cassowary Coast to provide a new kind of business network designed to deliver a stronger collective voice, better connections and practical support to help grow business and regional prosperity,” Mr Kimberley said.
“The purpose is to address an emerging need facing our business community – the need for whole-of-region business engagement, continuity of knowledge and strong self-representation when dealing with government.”
Operating under the banner ‘Built for the way businesses work today – designed to make a difference’, the organisation aims to move away from the rigid structure of traditional business associations.
Instead, it will utilise a model based on local town hubs to allow owners to participate on their own terms.
“Through local town hubs, people can avoid endless meetings, committee drudgery and paper pushing,” Mr Kimberley said.
“Instead, they can choose how they want to be involved – whether that means catching up with other businesses, staying informed, sounding out ideas and opportunities, running events or having a say on issues affecting the region.”
He emphasised that the primary focus will remain squarely on commercial priorities and regional progress.
“The focus will be business first – consulting with local businesses, advocating for the region, creating opportunities, attracting investment and ensuring the Cassowary Coast has a stronger voice when decisions affecting business are being made.”
The group is currently calling on local operators to register an expression of interest (EOI) to demonstrate community support as it prepares to work alongside the Cassowary Coast Regional Council.
Organisers stress that registering an EOI involves no cost, commitment or obligation, serving simply as a quick way for local operators to stay informed and show support for the initiative.
