VOLUNTEERS are being urged to help clean up Cowley Beach this weekend.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is teaming up with Tangaroa Blue, Mandubarra Aboriginal Land and Sea and Parley Australia for a morning of removing marine debris from our Cowley coastline.

“Join us at the Cowley Beach boat ramp before we head out along the beach to collect rubbish and marine debris – then we’ll wrap things up with a barbecue lunch,” a council spokeswoman said.

“Everyone is welcome, so bring the family and lend a hand,” she said.

“Come along, get your hands a little sandy and help us keep Cowley Beach looking its best.”

Three years ago, nearly 60 Cairns and Cassowary Coast community members volunteered with global environmental conservation organisation Parley by removing almost 600kg of washed-up plastic and other marine debris at Cowley Beach.
