Golfers fight wet course

THE monthly medal single stroke 18-hole competition on 4 February attracted a good field and the course played well considering the wet conditions. Only four shots separated the top 12, so go lfers needed to be on their game to make it into the rundowns.

Andrew Rose had a solid morning, almost holing out for an albatross on six, literally, a tap in eagle, kickstarted a great round. Despite a small mishap on the 18th hole, he still finished with two under the card and the clubhouse leader on three.

Jack Johnston was the best of the afternoon groups, coming in with -1 to tie with Scott Nuttall and claim victory in the under 55s on a countback.

Rose, Johnston and Nuttall were the only players breaking their handicap.
