Great win in ladies pairs
A DOMINANT performance in the Innisfail ladies 2027 pairs championship highlighted another busy week on the greens, with Ann Rule and Dell Steve recording an impressive 20-11 victory over Marilyn Allen and Jan Dunn in their latest championship round on 14 October.

The convincing win continued the pair’s strong form and set the tone for a successful week of competition and social bowls at the club.
In social games, Daphne Kirkman and Julie Connors edged out Bev Anderson and Carol McRobbie 12-10 in a closely contested match. Meanwhile, Christine Pascoe, Maisie Smith and Kath O’Brien posted a comprehensive 16-6 win over Lyn Stevenson, Dian Catelan and Diana O’Brien, adding another strong result to the women’s programme.
Competition remained fierce in the men’s social bowls on 15 October, where a field of 32 players took to the greens. The only team to win both games was skipped by Wayne O’Neill, with Ian Gaffney, Les Cali and David Cook, finishing with a strong 23-17 result.
They finished comfortably ahead of the team skipped by Gordon Goes, with Joe Van Tienen, Sam Pagano and Richard Nicholls, in another afternoon of close and entertaining contests.
Club officials said the strong weekly turnouts continue to reflect the popularity of bowls throughout the district and welcomed new players to join in.
Men’s social bowls are played every Thursday, with names required by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
