Have a ball at workshops

JOIN local creative business Mell’s Quirky Kreations for a hands-on kokedama experience at the Pasifika Celebrations 2026 at Warrina Lakes on 20 June.

Kokedama is a traditional Japanese art form where plants are transformed into beautiful moss-covered balls, wrapped in natural or coloured twine.

The two workshops are a hands-on creative experience where participants learn the traditional Japanese art of kokedama literally meaning “moss ball” by host Mellissa Watson.

During the workshop, participants will create their own living plant sculpture by wrapping a plant’s roots in a special soil mixture and moss, secured with string.

It’s designed as a relaxing, beginner-friendly activity that combines gardening, creativity, and mindfulness, and participants will leave with a beautiful handmade piece to display in their home or garden.

There will be two sessions:

  • Workshop 1: 10.30am – 12.30pm

  • Workshop 2: 12.30pm – 2.30pm

It is free to attend but there are just 10 spots per session.
