Innisfail bowlers travel far and wide to represent the club

INNISFAIL Bowls Club’s mixed pairs champions, Sam Pagano and Diana O’Brien, capped off a stellar season by representing the club at the Tropical Far North Queensland District Mixed Pairs championships in Yungaburra last weekend.

Their strong performance on the local greens earned them the right to play on the district stage.

Two Innisfail ladies’ teams travelled to Tully on 23 June to compete in the Tully Gumboot Fours, taking on sides from Edmonton, Ravenshoe, Silkwood and Ingham in a spirited day of competition.

Back on home greens, two social games were played on 24 June. Helen Paterson and Dell Steve claimed a convincing 25-13 win over Ann Rule and Dian Catelan.

In the second match, Louise Hoskins, Carol McRobbie, Daphne Kirkman and Kath O’Brien edged out Diana O’Brien, Caterina Cook, Sue Morrison and Kath O’Brien 17-14.

With the scores locked at 14-14 going into the last end, the game delivered a nail biting finish for players and spectators alike.
