Each jersey, from numbers one through to 18, went under the hammer with the successful bidder winning the right to have their logo on the player jersey in under-19, ladies, reserve-grade and A-grade, as well as having their business name endorsed at all home games.

This season is shaping up to be an exciting one for Innisfail teams which will be sporting a new playing strip featuring the old green and white colours, giving it a retro feel, and which includes the town’s postcode on the collar.

Club president, Adam Fichera paid homage to the loyal support from all major and minor sponsors.

Auctioneer Nick Pervan started the bidding, where numbers four and six jerseys attracted the highest bids, followed by jersey numbers one and nine.

Debbie’s Care & Support Centre, Dynamic Timbers and MoDa Real Estate each sponsored three jerseys.

Other jersey sponsors for the season are Bob Katter and Shane Knuth, Apex Drill and Blast, Raine & Horne Innisfail, Nourish Bananas, Sacchi Contracting, The Depot Expresso, Innisfail Skip Bin Hire, Laffo’s Local Lawn Mowing, LRF Repairs and ADP Electrical.

The new A-grade captain-coach and development officer Jaymon Moore was announced, and 2015 grand final winner Michael Carroll is the team’s co-captain. Coaching staff also include Robbie Moore (Reserve Grade), Brodie Clubb (Under 19) and Darren Sue San (assistant coach).

In exciting news, the Innisfail open women’s team is back in action for the first time in four years with Lisa Sue San as coach and Melissa Club as assistant coach.

New A-grade additions include Siosifa Kava and Callum Leslie, while Tamati Huirama, Lachlan Biondi-Odo, Queille Murray and Jaymon Moore return to the club.

Players who have left include Aaron Jolley, Zadok and Jezareel Heron, Ki-Shaun Fejo, Ethan Vick, Jayden Epong, Maddison Barriball, Tomasi Skelton, Malachi Donaldson, Braith Clubb, Johann Turner, Ayden Kris and Jarrod White, as well as the trio of Alpha, Saul and Joseph Lokotui.

Major sponsors are Century Cranes for under-19, Ron & Dan’s Butchery for reserve- grade, Michael Spry Painting for open women’s and Chemist Warehouse for A-Grade.

The Far North Queensland rugby league season officially begins on Saturday 21 March where Innisfail take on the Tully Tigers in the highly anticipated local derby clash at the Tully Showgrounds against their Cassowary Coast rivals.
