Jewel in crown
ARGUABLY the jewel in the crown of Mission Beach – the Elandra Mission Beach Resort – has been placed on the market for $10 million.

On a cliff overlooking the Coral Sea and Family Islands, the luxury retreat is one of the more spectacular places to stay in the trendy tourist town.
Owners Sam and Kerri-Ann Charlton have invested heavily in the boutique property since they bought it in 2021.
They used their experience transforming Bedarra Island Resort, off the coast of Mission Beach, by embarking on an extensive refurbishment after finding the former 56-room resort in a poor state.
The remodel included the renovation of 20 guest rooms, a new 120-seat gourmet restaurant and bar, a pool deck, conference facilities and a luxury day spa. The resort reopened in 2024.
Leah Bursztynowicz of Resort Brokers said “all the hard work has been done”.
She said “everything was in place for the incoming owner to capitalise from day one”.
Ms Bursztynowicz said the campaign was expected to attract interest from private investors, tourism operators and high-net-worth buyers seeking entry to Australia’s premium tourism market.
“The Elandra is a trophy asset of true distinction, offering pure barefoot luxury,” Ms Bursztynowicz said.
“The views are sensational – the best in Queensland.
“We’re expecting strong interest in this offering, given that resorts of this calibre are tightly held.
“It’s a rare opportunity to acquire a top-tier resort in one of Australia’s premier high-end tourism destinations of international repute.”
Ms Bursztynowicz said the resort had delivered a strong trading performance, recording occupancy above 90% during peak periods and an average daily rate of $349, outperforming comparable properties.
“Guest reviews have been exceptional, with The Elandra consistently achieving very high ratings across online platforms, including a perfect 10 on Expedia,” she said.
Beyond the existing site, there is also potential to further increase revenue and capitalise on the limited supply of luxury accommodation across the Mission Beach region.
“While the property is ready to go as is, expansion would significantly expand the resort’s revenue base,” Ms Bursztynowicz said.
“With limited supply of high-end accommodation in Mission Beach, the expansion would position The Elandra among the region’s leading luxury resorts.”
