Eight club members competed at the Victor Crees Pavilion, showing determination and composure throughout the Coral Coast Open, a Queensland state team qualification event that drew strong entries from Coral Coast, Innisfail, Cairns and Townsville.

For first time competitors Maddix Sullivan, Emmett Accatino and Aurora Foley, the day marked a confident debut. Sullivan struck gold twice, Accatino collected a gold, two silvers and a bronze, while Foley proudly secured a bronze medal.

The Miller family trio also featured prominently, combining for six medals across their divisions, while the club’s five female competitors all earned podium finishes.

Most judokas competed in multiple divisions, ensuring plenty of high quality bouts and valuable mat time. Navdeep Singh and Panuwat Phunklang also gained important experience through friendly bouts.

The event provided an ideal platform for beginners and developing players to test their skills against opponents in their own age and weight categories, building confidence and competition readiness.

All Innisfail competitors fought with spirit, discipline and 100% effort, finishing the day with a mix of wins and losses but doing their club proud.

The club extended its sincere thanks to Coral Coast Judo Club for hosting the event, along with the marshals, referees, table officials, canteen staff, first aid personnel, coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters, whose efforts helped make the day an outstanding success.

Round two of the NQ Regional competition series will take place at Cairns Judo Club on Saturday 9 May.
