Kurrimine Classic turns 12
IT’S on again - the 12th annual Kurrimine beach fishing and spearfishing classic from 19-21 September 2025.

From the live action at the weigh-in tent to the nightly draws and mega prizes, you don’t want to miss what is going to be another classic filled with memories for years to come.
Alongside the fishing, are the food vans, stall holders, jumping castle, live music and the big screen action. Loads of giveaways for the kids and promotional prize draws for seniors and juniors alike. Grab the lads, the ladies and the family and join in for all the action you can handle packed into what is expected to be an epic weekend.
Whether it’s up the freshwater creeks, in the mangrove lined rivers or at kings reef, there are so many great options to get out and land the big one of nominated competition species.
Its key to make the weekend rundown, with all the rules/species for the series, which commences at 7pm friday night with the competitions favourite MC – Scotty Hillier.
The warm tropical waters of Kurrimine Beach are always teeming with fish of every variety, from flathead and whiting that the kids love to catch on the beach, and the kaleidoscope of pelagic fish, to the barramundi that keen fisherman wrestle in Maria and Liverpool Creeks.
Without a doubt perhaps the most common species are the mackerel caught at the Patches and Silver Sands just a few kilometres offshore.
The pristine waters of King Reef offshore is a diver’s playground in shallow water with notable bommie hotspots, where the diver can selectively target prized table eating reef fish species, including the coral trout and tropical crayfish.
Nominations will still be accepted onsite on Friday but there will be a $10 late fee.
Saturday lines are in from 6am, with the weigh in tent closing 5pm sharp
Sunday lines are in from 6am but weigh in tent closes 2pm sharp. You must be in line no later than 2pm to qualify for weigh in.
This is more than a fishing classic – it’s three days of fun, prizes and family excitement.
