Lionesses roar
THE Innisfail Lions Club Lionesses have marked their annual changeover dinner and welcomed new leaders.
Twenty-one members and guests attended the gathering, including 201Q2 past district governor Jo Lynes and representatives from the Tully Lions Club.
Two new members have joined the club in recent months, bringing total membership to 31.
After the induction of the 2026–2027 executive and board, outgoing president Christine Pascoe handed over the gavel and gong to incoming president Julie Strickland, concluding Ms Pascoe’s four-year term at the helm.
Long serving secretary Catherine Caltabiano also stepped down after eight years in the role.
Ms Pascoe, a member for seven years, said she had enjoyed her tenure.
“I’ve enjoyed the friendships, the social events and all the fundraising for local youth and the Innisfail community,” she said.
“I encourage anyone who is community minded to join. It’s incredibly rewarding.”
She highlighted the club’s ongoing support for Innisfail Youth and Family Care, providing essential items for women and families in crisis accommodation, and their strong presence at local school fetes and cent sales.
Charter members Catherine Caltabiano and Heather Westcott, both with 44 years of service, are still active club volunteers.
Founded in 1982 and fully chartered under Lions International in 2020, the club has served 18183 people in the community, raised $11,759, donated $9863 and amassed 5698 volunteer hours.
