Local business urged to step up
NOMINATIONS are now open for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s 2026 Local Business Awards.
Regional businesses are invited to step forward, share their stories and be recognised for their impact in the Cassowary Coast.
“Local businesses shape the Cassowary Coast. They create jobs, support families, drive innovation and contribute enormously to the character and liveability of our region,” CCRC Mayor Teresa Milwood said.
“The Local Business Awards are an opportunity to recognise excellence and celebrate the businesses that help our region grow stronger together.”
From primary industries and trades to tourism, retail and professional services, local businesses celebrate excellence, leadership and commitment across a wide range of categories which include:
Outstanding Business Achievement
Excellence in Community Engagement
Professional Services Customer Excellence
Trade, Retail and Services Excellence
Leading Employer Recognition
Rising Star Business Award
Environmental Sustainability Leadership
Innovation and Technology Excellence
People’s Choice Business of the Year.
Businesses can nominate themselves in one or more relevant categories.
Community members are also encouraged to participate by supporting their favourite local businesses through the People’s Choice Business of the Year Award.
“As someone with firsthand experience of operating a business on the Cassowary Coast, I understand the dedication, resilience and long hours that go into making it all work,” Cr Renee McLeod, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism, said.
“These awards are about acknowledging that commitment and celebrating the businesses that invest in our community, employ local people and contribute to the success of the Cassowary Coast.”
“I encourage all local businesses to nominate and invite the community to get behind their favourite local businesses through the People’s Choice Award.”
The 2026 Cassowary Coast Local Business Awards will be held on 15 May at Innisfail Shire Hall.
