The Cassowary Coast Regional Council is developing its first ‘Disability Inclusion and Accessibility Plan”.

A council spokeswoman said it was “a significant step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive region for all”.

“Recognising that our region has a higher-than-state-average population of people with disability, this initiative has been identified as a priority action in the council’s integrated ‘Corporate and Operational Plan 2025–2030’,” she said.

Mayor Teresa Millwood said the council wanted to hear from as many people as possible, including individuals with lived experience of disability, support workers, carers, and other stakeholders, to participate in shaping the vital plan.

Community members can complete a survey, which is open until 8 May 2026. Surveys are available at council libraries, customer services centres and online at www.bit.ly/4ebVLyj
