NAIDOC fun for Tully kids
A HUGE morning of culture, learning and outdoor fun is planned for local families when the Tully Arts and Cultural Precinct hosts its NAIDOC event on Friday 4 September.
Held from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the Tully Masonic Centre, 3 Murray Street, a pupil-free day is expected to draw a huge turnout, with all school aged children welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Attendance is free and a simple BBQ lunch with a drink will be provided. Families are asked to advise of any food tolerances.
This year’s NAIDOC national theme, 50 Years of Deadly, pays tribute to the organisers, artists, activists and communities who have carried the movement forward for five decades.
NAIDOC remains a powerful platform for truth telling and a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity.
Children will learn about Gulngay culture from Mr Clarence Kinjun, while Girringun Rangers will share their knowledge of biodiversity, caring for country and rainforest culture through games and activities.
Parents are encouraged to dress children in practical clothing, for both indoor and outdoor creative activities.
