Nail-biting finish

A NAIL-biting finish in the social bowls stole the spotlight at Innisfail Bowls Club on 27 May, with Helen Paterson’s team clinching victory on the final bowl of the last end.

After 17 ends, with the scores locked at 12-12, Paterson, Diane Catelan and Sue Morrison then edged ahead to defeat Ann Rule, Carolyn McRobbie and Jan Dunn 14-12 in a gripping contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

In championship action, another round of the 2027 B grade singles was played in glorious sunshine. Christine Pascoe delivered a commanding performance against Margaret Wardrope, taking the match 27-13. Pascoe now advances to the final, where she will meet Carolyn McRobbie.

Two social games were also contested. Diana O’Brien and Margaret Johnston proved too strong for Marilyn Allen and Kath O’Brien, securing a 17-5 win.
