Not even soggy fairways could stop some stand-out scores
DESPITE another week of washouts and gloomy forecasts, the monthly medal went ahead on 16 May, with 28 determined golfers proving that not even soggy fairways could stop some stand-out scoring.

On a tough day where conditions made every shot a challenge, four players managed to better their handicap.
The morning groups dominated the leaderboard, with six of their players finishing inside the top 10.
Ryan Turnbull handled the wet conditions well to post an even par round, while Paul Tattam and Mick Wilkinson both finished on -1. A countback placed Tattam at the top of the leaderboard.
In the over-55s, Kevin Walsh put together a solid +2 to claim second place, despite missing regular playing partner Rob Mills. Caine Cockle recovered strongly after one rough hole to finish on +1.
Jack Johnston bounced back from a difficult front nine to fire a par back nine, securing outright second with -2.
But the round of the day in the under 55s belonged to Jake Cockle.
With his driver finally behaving, he produced six up and downs on the back nine and carded an impressive 69, finishing the competition at -3.
