Open day at little school
EL Arish State School is opening its doors tomorrow, Thursday 13 August, inviting families to explore the learning opportunities offered by the small school with a big heart.
The open day runs from 9am-11am, followed by a community shared lunch, giving visitors the chance to meet staff and students, tour classrooms and see learning in action.
Principal Chris Richards said the school was committed to educating the whole child.
“Our aim is for students to achieve academically, while also discovering their talents, building confidence, creativity, curiosity and enjoying attending school,” he said.
Families will see the school’s signature programs, including the Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden program, an aquaponics system with red claw crayfish, School of Rock, Japanese, digital innovation and 3D printing. Students have access to individual devices to support personalised learning.
Mr Richards said one of the school’s greatest strengths was every child was known, valued, and supported. “Being a smaller school creates a genuine sense of belonging, while still offering a rich range of opportunities, he said. The school invites the community to come along and experience ‘The El A Way’.
