The lively crowd, some travelling from Brisbane, central Queensland, the Sunshine Coast and even New Zealand, set the tone for one of Mission Arts’ most successful opening nights yet.

Painter Ms Brady and potter Ms Tredgett curated the exhibition with the support of the Mission Arts display team. MC and spoken-word artist Mel Bowman-Finn guided the evening, while dancers Nina Martinez and Aysha Anjuli added a flourish of movement, with a professional routine of swirling colour that delighted the audience.

Ms Brady said she was thrilled to have the support of her husband, daughter, son, sister, aunt, and other family members which added a distinctive touch to an already meaningful night.

Ms Tredgett described the moment she saw the exhibition come together as both “a relief and a thrill,” adding that the turnout made the night even more special.

“Both Hilary and I were truly humbled by the amazing community support we received on opening night, and we hope this exhibition inspires others to find their creativity,” Ms Brady said.

Mission Arts volunteers kept the bar running with record sales, while guests enjoyed complimentary culinary creations prepared by chef Terese Tinker.

Art sales began almost immediately, with queues forming early in the evening. Several pieces could have sold twice over and both artists now have commission requests to fulfil.

For those who missed the opening, ‘Colour and Clay Over Time’ continues daily from 10am to 2pm at Mission Arts until 19 May. To buy and for more details visit www.bit.ly/42bLxGQ
