Pests on menus at pubs
CASSOWARY Coast landholders are invited to pull up a chair and talk pigs, pests and weeds as council launches a new community biosecurity information series this September.
From pub to paddock will see council officers Arthur and Rowan (surnames withheld) coming to a coastal pub to share practical, local information about feral pigs, invasive weeds and other biosecurity issues affecting the Cassowary Coast region.
The informal sessions are a chance to learn more about practical ways to manage pigs, pests and weeds on properties, ask questions and discuss topics about biosecurity.
Mayor Teresa Millwood said feral pigs and invasive weeds “don’t stop at property boundaries, which is why sharing information and working together is so important”.
“These sessions are about making it easier for our farmers and landholders to talk directly with people working in biosecurity, ask questions and get practical information they can take back to their properties,” she said.
The first session will be held at Hotel Euramo on Wednesday 23 September, followed by Mena Creek Hotel on Wednesday 28 October. For more information, visit www.observer.s.gy/aU6yzo
