A library spokesman said Ms Marsh was farewelled at a Conservation Café monthly session which was established under her guidance.

The recent café session took on a slightly different flavour.

“Regular attendees were joined by other Cassowary Coast Regional Council library staff and employees for a special morning tea,” the spokeswoman said.

“It was an enjoyable and informal opportunity for patrons of the Tully Library to express our thanks and appreciation to long time and loved librarian Maxine Marsh, who is retiring and moving from the district.

“Mention was made of the great contribution Maxine and (library assistant) Lisa Maifredi and other library staff made to the Tully oral history project and the Tully100 Celebrations.

“Maxine will be missed and she leaves with everyone’s best wishes for her retirement.

“The group was also able to meet and welcome our new librarian Veronica Ferguson.”
