The initiative is funded through the Regional Arts Development Fund and aims to involve young locals using their creativity to enhancing one of the region’s key community spaces.

Local large-scale mural artist Cam Scale has been engaged to lead the project.

With extensive experience in graffiti and street art workshops involving young people and communities, he will collaborate with students from Tully State High School to design and install a mural across the entrance to the Tully Showgrounds, including the Stan MacKay Building, Tully Show Society building and the horticultural pavilion.

Mayor Teresa Millwood said the mural would act as a vibrant new entrance statement, celebrating the community’s culture while creating a welcoming and dynamic space for all.

“This is a fantastic example of creativity and community coming together,” she said.

“Not only will this project help brighten and revitalise a key public space, it’s also a meaningful opportunity for local youth to get involved, express themselves, and contribute to something lasting in our region.”
