Players travelled to Silkwood for the Open President’s Day on 29 September, continuing a busy month on the greens.

In social play at Innisfail, Ann Rule, Diana O’Brien and Lyn Stevenson claimed a 14-9 win over Louise Hoskins, Dian Catalan and Kath O’Brien, while Dell Steve, Helen Paterson and Carol McRobbie edged out Daphne Kirkman, Marilyn Allen and Cheryl Higgins 16-14.

On 20 September, the Innisfail Bowls Club hosted a club selected men’s triples tournament, drawing 30 players in ideal bowling weather. Competitors played two 10 end games before lunch and two more in the afternoon, producing a tight leaderboard.

The winning team, finishing on 38 points, was skipped by Alf Strano along with George Edgerton and Dustin McDonald. Close behind on 35 were runners up Ian Humphreys, Rod McMillan and Matt Aucello, followed by Wayne O’Neill, Steve Howe and Geoff Johnston in third place on 33.

The club said the strong turnout reflects the ongoing enthusiasm for bowls in the region and extended an open invitation to new players.
